Inspections

Annual compliance inspections of stormwater facilities is not only a good idea, but in many cases, it is a local or state requirement.

General Property Maintenance

• Bush Hogging • Cleanup (overgrowth, trash and debris removal) • Security (gates and fencing)
General Property Maintenance- Cleanup

BMP’s (Erosion and

Sedimentation Controls)

• Stabilization • Hydroseeding • Matting • Silt fence • Storm Drain Outlet Protection *Best Management Practices (BMP’s) are vegetative measures and structural practices to control the erosion of soil and the resulting sedimentation.

Site Work

• Clearing • Grading and Excavation • Storm, Sewer & Water Installation • Utilities
Condition: The stormwater pond had not had any maintenance in 12 years. Problem: The facility was issued a ‘Notice to Comply’ from the local Department of Stormwater Management to correct deficiencies (remove sediment) in the stormwater pond for compliance. Solution: Response Environmental & Site Services removed 100 CY’s of sediment from the pond to satisfy the ‘Notice to Comply’.

Drainage Issues

* Without proper stormwater drainage, your property can be exposed to extensive damage.
Condition: The stormwater outlet next to a home in a residential subdivision was overgrown, had sediment accumulation and was not draining properly. Problem: The adjoining homeowner was complaining about the overgrowth, nuisance snakes and rodents. Additional complaint included an abundance of mosquitos from the standing water.   Solution: Response Environmental & Site Services removed the overgrowth and excess sediment for improved drainage.

Stormwater Inlet & Pipe Repairs

• Inlet Repair (curb inlets, drop inlets or drain inlets) • Pipe repair • Pipe replacement • Emergency repairs *Stormwater inlets collect runoff to prevent flooding. One of the major causes of sinkholes at an inlet is water intrusion around the structure. *Many corrugated metal stormwater pipes are nearing the end of their estimated life span. Sinkholes are almost always the direct result of a defect or failure in an underground stormwater pipe.
Condition: There was severe erosion at the stormwater pond inlet. Problem: The facility was issued a ‘Notice to Comply’ from the local Department of Stormwater Management to repair erosion at inlet in the stormwater pond. Solution: Response Environmental & Site Services repaired the erosion and installed rock for erosion control.

Stormwater Pond Maintenance

    • Initial Clearing (Tree Removal)     • Regular scheduled maintenance (overgrowth and litter removal)     • Sediment Removal     • Structural Repairs (inlet & outlet structures, pipes, dams and concrete walls) * Stormwater ponds collect, store and slowly release runoff to help prevent downstream flooding. Lack of inspections and maintenance is the primary cause of stormwater pond failures. Ponds that are poorly maintained can become a liability. For a stormwater pond to function as designed, it must be properly maintained. Frequent maintenance and inspection will ensure that potential problems are found early and that solutions can be effective both for the pond and your budget!
Condition: There was overgrown vegetation in the stormwater pond. Problem: The adjoining homeowners were complaining to the HOA about the overgrown condition of this pond next to their homes. Solution: Response Environmental & Site Services removed the overgrowth and developed a scheduled maintenance program.
